Last, but probably the worst, 4chan also has javascripts from (((Google analytics))) and (((gstatic.com))) that run in the background while you're on 4chan. If you use browser add-ons (like ublock origin or noscript) to make it so those javascripts don't run, then 4chan won't let you make any posts.

In other words: If you don't let Google spy on your 4chan posts, then you can't make 4chan posts

Pic related, if you want to see Google spying on your 4chan posts for yourself.

Its been like that for a decade now.
You also need to enable JavaScript to view the catalog in the current Yotsuba version 4chan uses. Trying to view the catalog without JS will end up in a page with broken CSS and a notification telling you to turn on JS.

I've also noticed that hiroyuki will put more ads that aren't filtered by ublock origin (yet) regularly. Only umatrix and noscript can block them so far.

At least 3chan allows your to view the catalog without JS as it should be.

You can set your own custom blacklist with ublock origin. I can't remember exactly how (haven't used ublock origin for a while) but I know you have to go to 'my rules' and I think you type * block URL-TO-BLACKLIST
Make sure to put the asterisk before typing block.

Or alternatively
>go to the settings
>tick I'm an advanced user
>go to 4chan
>open ublock origin
>change the domains you want to blacklist from gray to red (in both columns, so that they're blacklisted both locally and globally)
>click padlock so that the changes you made become permanent, or else they'll go back to being allowed once you close your browser
You can also use ublock origin to just indiscriminately block all javascript. That's useful if you don't plan to use that browser for going on any websites that require javascript.

Compartmentalization is best. Use a VM for browsing the chans, with javascript disabled in your VM's browser. Use another VM for online banking and other things that require javascript. Then the caches from each browser can't be linked and your bank won't find out you browse imageboards.

Understandable as users are managed by their IP

Yes, your public IP address, which is, public.

>anonymous? lmao. no.
???

And yeah the Google analytics thing is crap but I think you have to have it if you want to have ads and maintain the website.

so yeah get fucked

>Understandable as users are managed by their IP
There are lots of image boards on the Tor network and since it's Tor, every posters IP address will look like 127.0.0.1 to the admin. Yet these chans manage just fine. Why can't 4chan at least allow Tor exit nodes like 3chan? (A hidden service address would be better though. Looking at you 3chan admin...)

VPNs give almost no anonymity, instead they mostly only give privacy from your ISP. There's a lot of reasons why that is but basically VPNs aren't really anonymous. Yet 4chan doesn't even allow VPNs either.
Any website, especially forums and especially image boards, that don't let you use Tor or even a VPN are about as anonymous as facebook with your real name.

>Yes, your public IP address, which is, public.
Just like your face is public when you go to the store. But what if you don't like people being able to see which stores you go to? Then you wear a mask or sunglasses and a cap or whatever. Tor is basically the same thing but on the internet. What's wrong with wanting a bit of privacy?

Oy vey, what's the problem, goyim? You have nothing to hide, right, so why are you worried about third-party references and scripts from Goolag? They're there to collect some valuable information and we can give you ads better suited to your tastes and an overall better experience. Really, you needn't think about it too much.
>>
Could have just said 'reCAPTCHA'. That shit makes it break more often than not, unless you are signed into a Jewgle account - more boner-inducing shekels for Hiroshima Nagasaki the goyim as well as Goolag - or using Chrome on Win10/Android.
